Finance Infrastructures and Monetary Systems in Troubling Times

This paper explores historical moments of arrived finance infrastructures and monetary systems in order to understand their today‘s dynamics better. This exploration is supported by arguments that follow along the lines of thinkers for which I argue, share fundamentally liberal, democratic and equitable perspectives on society.
This thesis defines money not as a neutral medium, but as a world-making infra-structure that shapes subjectivity and freedom4, and that both, state fiat and private platform money reproduce hierarchical control and therefore require a reconsideration and finally the prototyping of an alternative monetary infrastructure as an onto-ethical design practice.
By stringently constructing a theoretical framework around the term freedom, I will argue for the inclusion of a post-anthropocentric perspective and the adaption of a new finance infrastructure and monetary system; As then shown in my practical prototype: dcccp.org
